Walloon property crime

Rosewood Police Station OIC Sgt Travis Ehrich said that unfortunately, Walloon has seen a spike in property crime offences occurring over the previous few months.

“The reports suggest that the vast majority of these offences are, sneak breaks which means that opportunistic offenders are taking advantage of vehicles that are left unlocked on the street or in the driveway,” he said.

“On several occasions the victim’s wallet, electronic devices or high-value tools were stolen from unlocked vehicles overnight and into the early hours of the morning.

“Closed Circuit Television footage that has been collected so far shows two young male offenders to have entered an unlocked vehicle and then used the garage remote to access the dwelling on Fyfe Street, Walloon.

“If you see any suspicious persons moving around the Walloon area in the late night or early morning times, please report it immediately.

“Please make it as difficult as possible for these thieves to steal your hard-earned property by locking your vehicles and dwellings and keeping valuable items secured out of sight.

“And if you have CCTV installed at your dwelling and are willing to share it with police, please get in contact with Rosewood police so you can be added to the database allowing a quick reference of local CCTV to assist with investigations.”
