ROSEWOOD Lion Sel Heit has been named a Melvin Jones Fellow for his dedication to the club at a special presentation last week.
Zone Chairman and Club Secretary Christine Forrest said that Sel was a prominent, hardworking and effective Lion for the Rosewood club, who has worked long and hard in many ways.
She made the announcement at the event held at the Rosewood State School Hall.
The Melvin Jones Fellowship is named in honour of the founder of Lions Clubs International. It is the highest honour awarded by the Lions Foundation.
“Sel joined the Rosewood Lions as a charter member of the club in 1974. I regard him as a friend and a mentor to others,” Mrs Forrest said.
“The Rosewood club has gained spirit and prestige because of the long standing and untiring efforts of Sel, as over the years he has fulfilled duties as a Lion and has held many positions within the board where he has dedicated years of motivation and enthusiasm.
“It is an absolute pleasure to present Sel with this prestigious award, and to congratulate him with everyone in attendance for the humanitarian work that he has performed as a Lion.”
