A PLEA for a ramp at the Rosewood Post Office has been made by a resident.
“For many years I have been unable to go inside the Rosewood Post Office due to the simple reason that there is no ramp access into the building,” she said.
“Unfortunately, I am unable to walk up the stairs unattended and this makes it extremely frustrating because I have to travel to other post offices to pay my bills, buy stamps and purchase the gifts that the post offices provide.
“When I approached the post office staff, I was told that they do not own the building and that the owners will not consider building a ramp.
“This is quite disappointing.
“There are so many other people who are either elderly or are unable to walk up the stairs.
“Also, how about people who are in wheelchairs and mobility scooters, and who have young children in strollers who simply cannot leave their children and belongings outside of the building.
“From what I can see the post office is actually losing business because these people simply go elsewhere to do their business.”
Cr Russell Milligan was in the area when the lady raised her concerns to the post office staff.
He said he understood her concerns.
“I definitely think that the owners need to consider installing a ramp so that everyone can access the post office to use their service and to shop inside,” he said.
“Most other post offices in the area such as Laidley have ramp access and Marburg provides easy access, so it only makes sense that residents are travelling elsewhere.”
