HOW sad when even the smallest signs of love and happiness are taken totally out of context.
Let me provide you with the background story regarding the hearts and flowers seen in Rosewood.
During those difficult and unprecedented times of 2020, I like many others, tried to find ways to bring a little bit of joy into the daily lives of those around us.
Being a ‘hooker’ … an individual who enjoys crocheting (not knitting!), I took up the hook and yarn and began to crochet small hearts.
While out walking around our small lakeside community early each morning, I would distribute a number of crocheted hearts along my way.
At first, nothing much was said about the appearance of the hearts.
But slowly, whispers were heard … how these small tokens of love, happiness, kindness and joy lifted the spirits of everyday people.
Sometimes the hearts remained hanging for days; sometimes they were forwarded to another location where they could continue to spread happiness.
Perhaps because I could see how this small token of love and positive thought worked so well at home, I continued to spread the love wherever I went.
For work purposes, I travel away from my small community and happily spread the love-hearts wherever I go – Mackay, Freshwater Point, Cannonvale, Airlie Beach, Proserpine, Bowen, Townsville, Mount Isa. Some have even winged their way to the Northern Territory.
Again, not a bad word anywhere.
Last September I spent some time with my Mother in Rosewood. Not to be left out, this lovely little town also received some loving. Hearts (and some flowers) were left on the fences of parks, schools, churches and locations such as the Anzac Memorial, Cobb and Co memorial, seating outside the pub, railway fence line … golf course fence, random signs etc. Anywhere, I could find a handy perch for a little loving.
