CWA benefits from Gambling grant

THE Rosewood Branch of the CWA has won a grant worth more than $34,000 through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.

The money will be used to upgrade the kitchen and install a solar system in the Branch’s building in John Street.

Members describe their historic building as “the heart of the town and a place where like minded ladies come together to share their skill and creativity whilst building friendships”.

The building is also used by community groups for meetings, by friends who gather to play a social game of cards and by families for functions.

Rosewood CWA Promotion Officer Nelly Haly said the committee applied for the grant and when the news came that it was successful, she felt “stoked and absolutely excited, because it will make such a difference to the facility”.

“I am extremely pleased because the current kitchen is quite small and outdated, so after the upgrade we will be able to explore other possibilities,” she said.

“We are a group who really like to come together for friendship while enjoying a hot cuppa accompanied by a slice of cake or a biscuit.

“This upgrade will certainly be appreciated, and we look forward to inviting others to join us.

As part of the kitchen upgrade bench space and storage space will be increased and the cupboards will be fashioned to incorporate the dishwasher and double sink. The solar system will help to cut power costs.

“A greener and more sustainable place will work great,” Nelly Haly said, “because as a group we are all about recycling and helping to save our environment.”
