Poetry Corner – Thank you Mum

How do you thank someone,

That showed so much love and care?

No matter what the circumstances,

She was always there!

From the moment you were born,

Until the cold hours of a winter’s morn,

She was there to comfort and hold you tight,

To hold your hand

When you went to bed at night.

Do you remember, when you didn’t feel well,

Or, you were troubled,

And life was giving you a problem.

She was the one to tell!

Remember your first day at school?

When you probably cried.

For the first time,

You saw tears running down her face,

As you started a new world in an unfamiliar place.

As the years rolled on, and you started to grow,

Maybe, you weren’t always as thankful,

For her love and care,

As you look back

You would have to say, yes, I know!

We would have to admit,

She was a gift from above!

Someone, who showed so much unselfish love.

Now, as we sit and ponder times gone by,

Soft water forms in our eyes, as we sigh,

And say,

I thank you Mum, for without you,

I wouldn’t be who I am today!
