Couple’s 10 year service commitment

A DECADE of voluntary service to the Cabanda Care community by Ron and Jenny Shaw was acknowledged, last month.

A certificate of appreciation and a bouquet of flowers was presented to the Rosewood couple after a speech of thanks for their service.

In their role as volunteers, Ron and Jenny Shaw delivered Meals on Wheels to many Cabanda clients.

Rosewood resident John Sbeghen said he had taken note of Ron and Jenny’s volunteering service within Rosewood and district community, and described them as hard working and caring.

“Meals on Wheels provides an important service to many families in the area, who may not be able to prepare meals, or who just need a little bit of help,” he said.

“Ron and Jenny have both played a vital role in assisting with this service, as they have been responsible for driving the meals to many homes within the area.

“I would say that they are the backbone behind this service, because without the drivers there are no meals.

“Also, Ron and Jenny have both provided a social network to many people.

“There are people who do not have family or friends who live close, so the friendly interaction and the conversations had while delivering the meals is very important.

“Ron and Jenny are very friendly and are compassionate people who have always taken the time for a chat, so I also thank them both for being so considerate.”

The couple now plan on retiring from their role, to spend more time at home enjoying some down time.
