Could I have an ice cream sundae please,
With a cherry on top?
While I put a coin in the juke box
And listen to the latest bop!
Do you remember back when,
We used to listen to the latest songs on the charts,
And a regular dance, was held at the school of arts?
It was the thing back then,
To be neat and tidy in the way we would dress.
Also, manners were used, when trying to impress.
If, we could roll back the curtain,
And take a look at the past,
We would probably wonder,
How did things deteriorate so fast?
Back then, having a job gave a sense of pride,
When kids didn’t steal cars,
They were happy to have a bike to ride!
What has become of our society,
When did greed, lack of manners and disobedience,
Rear its ugly head?
Now, we are surrounded by chaos instead!
It’s now impossible to buy a sundae with a cherry on top.
When will society wake up.
And realize if we are to survive, this nonsense has to stop!
