Rosewood Lions donate $50,000 to Cabanda for new bus

GETTING a new bus on the road has been made possible for Cabanda Care through a $50,000 donation from the Rosewood Lions.

Club President Bernie Newell said the Lions were all about supporting the community and that this donation, will help the residents and families of Cabanda.

“This is one of the biggest donations that the Rosewood Lions has made in many years, and the Lions are happy to see the moneys go to a really good cause,” he said.

“The Lions are always there to support Cabanda and other groups and organisations within the community, and as President of the Lions, I am so glad to be part of such a positive donation.”

The new bus will replace an existing bus that has been used by Cabanda for outings for the residents and families for many years.

The new bus is a Toyota Hiace 12-seater.

“The bus will keep the Cabanda fleet at two when the old bus is sold,” said Cabanda Care General Manager Robin Christelow.

“The donation came as a result of the old bus breaking down and being towed back to Cabanda by a tow truck,” he said.

“Cabanda is very grateful to receive this donation to allow us to purchase a new bus to provide safe and comfortable transport for our clients.

“The bus will be used to transport community members to and from activities in our day respite centre as well as outings and shopping trips, it is expected to arrive later this month.”
