Engaging in community service, Rosewood State High School students have completed the next phase of the Kokoda Foundation Challenge.
Leading up to the community service phase, students have been guided by Sargeant and Officer in Charge at the Rosewood Police Station Travis Ehrich, Rosewood State High School Student Wellbeing Youth Worker Cassie Ewings and Kokoda Foundation members through leadership activities, hikes and different challenges.
Rosewood State High School Student Wellbeing Youth Worker Cassie Ewings, said that the students demonstrated leadership through cleaning the Rosewood Girls Guides Hall, whilst engaging with local volunteers, which is the next stage of the challenge.
“Each student interviewed a volunteer, whilst listening to their stories and journeys into how they started their service,” she said.
“Students then served the volunteers a morning tea, to show them gratitude for their dedication to the Rosewood and surrounds community.”
Excited to meet and engage with local volunteers, the students left the girls guide hut ready to take on the next challenge, which will be continuing to engage with local groups and organisations.
“Once this community service phase is complete, students will be congratulated for completing the Kokoda Challenge,” she said.
“The countdown is now on for a cultural experience to Cairns in September, before everyone involved will be congratulated at the Kokoda Challenge graduation ceremony, that will take place at the end of this year.”
