Road improvements to Rosewood Karrabin Road

Member for Ipswich West Jim Madden, advises residents who use Karrabin Rosewood Road that during August and September of this year, the Department of Transport and Main Roads plan to undertake resurfacing works and pavement repair.

MP Jim Madden said that these works will take place between Clarkes Road Karrabin and Queen Street Walloon, that will include drainage works between Haggartys Avenue and Toongarra Road Karrabin.

“TMR have advised me that pavement repair and resurfacing works between Clarkes Road Karrabin and Queen Street Walloon are being undertaken as part of TMR’s routine maintenance program to improve the road surface and to enhance road safety for all road users,” he said.

“Roadworks will involve the removal and replacement of asphalt, reinstatement of line marking and final line marking to improve the reflectivity and longevity of the road.

“Roadworks on Karrabin Rosewood Road commenced on August 14 and they are expected to be complete by September this year.

“Initial roadworks will take place between Clarkes Road Karrabin and Redwood Street Walloon, from 6am to 6pm Monday to Friday, over four weeks until the middle of September.

“Then commencing in the middle of September, roadworks will take place between Redwood Street and Queen Street Walloon over two weeks from 6pm to 6am Sunday to Friday.

“Final line marking works to improve the reflectivity and longevity of the road will then take place approximately six weeks after the completion of works to allow for adequate curing.”

MP Jim Madden has been advised by TMR that drainage works between Haggartys Avenue and Toongarra Road Karrabin, will mainly involve maintenance of the existing culverts.

“Works will commence in the middle of August and are expected to take approximately two days to complete, with construction and weather conditions permitting,” he said.

“Typical construction hours will be from 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday however some Saturday or additional out of hours works may be required.

“Road users can expect that with the pavement repair and the drainage works on Karrabin Rosewood Road, there will be temporary traffic changes which include, road shoulder and lane closures, with speed limit reductions and short-term traffic disruptions.

“Please allow extra time when planning travel and follow the directions of roadside signage and traffic controllers.

“Nearby residents and businesses may experience short term increases in noise, dust, and odour during the works and reversing beepers and flashing lights will be used on vehicles for safety.

“Access to private properties will be maintained during the works and where temporary access changes are required property and business owners will be contacted directly.

“Every effort will be made to minimise impacts on the local community and surrounds and TMR appreciates your patience and cooperation while these important works are carried out.

“Over many years, I have received numerous complaints about the poor state of Karrabin Rosewood Road between Clarkes Road Karrabin and Queen Street Walloon.

“As a result of these complaints I have advocated to Minister for Transport and Main Roads Mark Bailey and the Department of Transport and Main Roads to have the road repaired, so road users can use it safely.

“So, I am pleased to be advised of the proposed roadworks which are overdue and I hope that when complete these roadworks will result in a road that road users can use safely.

“Also, emergency response vehicles will no longer lose valuable time when they travel along this section of road.”
