The ‘Kokoda family’ have swapped out their school uniforms for aprons and gloves to bake numerous goodies in conjunction with the members of the Rosewood CWA to share with local firefighters and paramedics.
The students from Rosewood High are in the Community Service phase of the Kokoda Foundation Challenge. They mixed, measured and baked while getting to know the CWA members.
Student Well-being Youth Worker Cassie Ewings said the activity took place in the Rosewood CWA Hall, to show appreciation for local emergency services workers and volunteers.
“During the cooking activities, students learned all about healthy living options from Country Kitchens member Lindsay and they took a walk back in time through a history lesson, that was shared David Pahlke from the Rosewood History Group,” she said.
“Delving deep into the local history, the students explored the old National Bank vault, which is located inside the CWA hall.
“This was a really special experience and the perfect end to what was a huge effort in the kitchen.”
