MIA Brooks has been awarded Trainee of the Year through Apprenticeships Queensland.
Mia, who lives in Rosewood, is undertaking her traineeship through Cabanda Care.
The Trainee of the Year Award is presented for “outstanding work and commitment within the workforce”.
Mia has been presented with a certificate and a plaque to signify her achievement.
Her mother, Kerri Brooks, said the family moved to Rosewood in 2015, because they were drawn to the small town atmosphere and feel.
“Mia attended Rosewood State High school, graduated in 2021, and went on to work at Rosewood Drakes,” she said.
“While working at Drakes, Mia was informed about a traineeship opportunity with Cabanda Care, and she decided to apply for the position.”
Her application met with success
“Mia then completed a 12 month course and achieved a Certificate 3 in Business Administration with Apprenticeships Queensland,” Kerri said.
“She was then lucky enough to be offered a fulltime position to stay with Cabanda.”
“Humbled, surprised and flattered,” were the words Mia used to describe her reaction when she found out that she had been nominated for the Apprenticeships Queensland Trainee of the Year Award.
“Mia was surprised when she found out about the nomination, she was then excited when she found out she had made it as a finalist, and then when she was announced as the winner, she was gobsmacked,” Kerri said.
“Our entire family is so proud of Mia for her hard work, dedication and her achievements and we know she has a bright future ahead of her at Cabanda.”
