Sod turned on new learning centre for Rosewood State High School

THE first sod was turned on a $16 million learning centre for Rosewood State High School by Member for Ipswich West Jim Madden.

Mr Madden said the budget allocated for the project was $14.5 million with a total estimated expenditure of $16 million. The project is expected to be completed by June 2024.

“I was pleased to represent Minister for Education Grace Grace at the Sod Turning for the new Learning Centre at the school,” he said.

“The Queensland Government is investing $2.1 billion in school infrastructure in 2023-2024, part of Queensland’s Big Build, the state’s record-breaking, all-sector $89 billion infrastructure investment over the next four years.

“The learning centre will include six learning spaces, a staff room and associated spaces, staff and student amenities, storage areas and an under croft with capacity for future infill.

“In addition to the new learning centre, upgrades to the existing bus bay and the construction of a new carparking area will be delivered as part of the project.”

Minister Grace said the learning centre was another example of the Queensland Government’s ongoing infrastructure program.

“Delivered under the Growth program, this learning centre will be a great new facility and a welcome addition to the school’s existing infrastructure,” she said.

Principal Neil Lloyd added that the project would provide six new classrooms and an upgrade to the parking and bus turnaround spaces.

“The classrooms will be a welcome addition to the school and will provide Rosewood teachers and students with state-of-the-art learning facilities,” he said.

“The driveway and parking upgrades will significantly improve safety for students who travel by bus from Rosewood’s surrounding communities.”
