No vote dominates in Blair electorate

ON SATURDAY (October 14), residents cast their vote at polling booths within the electorate of Blair to make their choice on the Voice to Parliament Referendum.

Voting centres within the area were held at Rosewood, Minden, Grandchester, Glamorgan Vale and Haigslea State Schools, where voters were asked to answer ‘Yes’ or ‘No’, to the proposed law to alter the constitution to recognise the First Peoples of Australia by establishing an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice.

Nationally the percentage recorded was 39.38 percent ‘Yes’, and 60.62 percent ‘No’, with Queensland recording the highest percentage of ‘No’ votes at 68.79 percent.

Within the Division of Blair, 28,533 voters voted ‘Yes’ and 67,140 voters voted ‘No’.

The following results in Rosewood, Minden, Grandchester, Glamorgan Vale and Haigslea were recorded.

Glamorgan Vale: 95 Yes and 420 No, with one informal vote.

Grandchester: 55 Yes and 230 No, with two informal votes.

Haigslea: 50 Yes and 270 No, with two informal votes.

Marburg: 108 Yes and 341 No, with nine informal votes.

Minden: 119 Yes and 571 No, with five informal votes.

Rosewood: 394 Yes and 1341 No, with 14 informal votes.

Walloon: 288 Yes and 1110 No, with 13 informal votes.
