The Native Plants Queensland, Ipswich Branch hosted their 10th Native Plant Sale and Environment Day in the Rosewood Showgrounds.
In attendance on the day were Mayor Teresa Harding and Deputy Mayor Russell Milligan, who congratulated them on a sale which attracted growers from as far as New South Wales.
The event co-ordinator Heather Knowles said that it was an impressive turn out with more than 400 stalls.
Almost 1000 people attended on the day.
“This was a very positive result, from the moment we opened the doors to the moment we took our last sale, the front sale desk was busy and there were families coming and going constantly,” she said.
“Specialist growers were kept busy and all of the hosts on the stalls were interacting all day with families and children about animals, plants and the environment.”
Children were kept busy with colouring in activities, fun interactions while learning about birds and the wildlife within the Ipswich region, and they left with gift bags containing fun facts about the koala.
“The highlight is always seeing happy families who have left our sale hopefully learning something new while purchasing something new for their garden,” she said.
“Overall, it was a fantastic day, and I would really like to thank everyone who supported our branch, also thank you to my fellow members, all of the stall holders, the growers, the Rosewood Community Centre and to everyone who made the day possible.”
