FAMILIES were invited to the Marburg Showgrounds on Sunday to back their race favourites over the line at the Marburg Pacing Association’s Goldbet Graham Harriott Memorial Day.
Nine harness races and the miniature trots kept punters busy trackside and in between the big events engaged in raffles, giveaways, a giant water slide, free face painting and market stalls.
The nine-race line up included memorial races for past members of the Marburg Pacing Association who have passed away, and on the day their families attended to keep their passion for the Marburg pace alive.
The race day was named in honour of the late Graham Harriott who held many roles in the association during the long years of his involvement.
His family was on the grounds and presented the winner of the Goldbet Graham Harriott Memorial Day race, Matthew Neilson who was the driver of Natty Pagger NZ.
Sharing expert tips with the punters, was Secretary of the Marburg Pacing Association Denis Smith along with a Marburg Mystery Man, who gave their pick of the first three winners in each race.
To conclude the day a giant raffle was drawn and children walked away excited to have been part of the Funny Money bidding and all involved won a small gift.
