Famous race car driver visits Rosewood

AUSTRALIAN stunt performer and motorsports racing driver Matt Mingay accompanied by his son Madzy rolled into the Rosewood Drakes carpark in a monster truck as part of their Hot Wheels Stunt Team promotion.

On the day a sausage sizzle was provided by the Rosewood Lions Club, while Matt and Madzy signed posters, merchandise and Hot Wheels cars for their excited fans.

Matt said that he was excited to travel to Rosewood to meet families and the Drakes community, while sharing his passion for Hot Wheels and the racing circuit.

“I have been riding bikes since I was 6-years-old, and have worked hard to make my passion for racing, cars and bikes into a job of being a professional stunt rider and action sports athlete, which has been a lifelong experience both on and off the track,” he said.

“Now to be able to share my experiences with my son Madzy is amazing, as he too rides and has a big passion for all things to do with bikes and cars. His signature trick is a one handed wheelie on his stunt bike, and I am super proud.

“Just like I always encouraged Madzy, I also encourage all children who aspire to be a stunt rider or a sports athlete to keep working hard, and to never give up, because at times it is hard work, but if you stay focused any dreams you have will come true.”

As part of the fun on the day a raffle was drawn and won by Rosewood resident Chantelle with her daughter Taylah, who took home a framed collection of Hot Wheels cars signed by Matt and Madzy.

Also, a colouring in competition was organised by the Drakes team and was judged on the day by Matt and Madzy resulting in Rosewood State School student Eden Jones taking home the win of a giant Hot Wheel’s racing track.

Rosewood Drakes General Manager Tanya Wilson said that the day was a huge success and an exciting time for the families of Rosewood, who all left with a huge smile after meeting Matt and Madzy.

“Families were lined out from the entrance into our store right out into the carpark, it was a great turnout and an opportunity for our Drakes staff to interact with everyone whilst sharing giveaways such as lolly bags, popcorn, treats and balloons,” she said.

“I would like to congratulate the raffle winner and also the winner of the colouring in competition, and also I would like to say thank you to Matt and Madzy for taking time out of their busy schedule to share some excitement within our Rosewood store.”
