Marburg Pacing to host Christmas races and festivities

CHRISTMAS festivities and some exciting on-track racing will be the focus at the Marburg Pacing Association’s Christmas at the Races on Sunday, December 10 at the Marburg Showgrounds.

Join them on the day to celebrate the friendly county atmosphere this Christmas, where there will be something for family and friends to enjoy.

Pacing Association Vice President Denis Smith said there was a big day planned this year.

“There will be plenty of free activities for the young and the young at heart, including creative face painting, rides and the popular funny money betting,” he said.

“Santa will be welcomed trackside to greet families, while being happy to be involved in photo opportunities and there will be free Christmas stocking gifts to all of the children.

“At affordable prices for all families a wide range of food options will be available from the kitchen, and a fully stocked bar will provide cold drinks.

“This year’s event will really have something for everyone.”

To accommodate large crowds, marquees will be set up to provide comfort and the grandstand will be open to provide an ‘aerial’ view and chairs are provided trackside.

“There is nothing like live racing and cheering on your race favourite up close to the race track, so jump on to your chance to be immersed in country racing at its best,” Denis said.

“Marburg always attracts the best horses, trainers and drivers in our country, who are all geared up and ready to provide a good show.

“Among the gold class racing, Santa will take on the Grinch in an interactive race that will bring families to their feet, as they witness fun Christmas entertainment on the track, right to the finish line.”

Miniature trotters will also compete amongst the race line up on the day, and big prizes will be awarded to the lucky winners through a giant multi draw Christmas raffle.
