VISITORS to the campgrounds in the Rosewood Showgrounds were without power for three days following a storm on Friday left a large tree branch on the powerlines.
There were about 30 caravans in the facility, when the storm hit the Rosewood area at about 5pm.
Heavy rain, cracks of thunder and flashes of lightening were quickly followed by strong winds that tore a large tree branch off a gum tree located at the top end of the grounds, near the Rosewood Pony Club shed.
Caravaner Richard Green said he had been following the storm warnings all day and was prepared just “in case things turned bad”.
“A few years ago, my wife and I decided to travel around Australia in our caravan to enjoy our retirement, and now two years in, we are no strangers to the odd storm while on our travels,” he said.
“This storm contained very fast winds, and once everything settled down, I walked out of my caravan to take a look around the grounds and this is when I saw the huge branch that had fallen on the power lines.
“We were then told by other families that the power had been turned off and that we would have no power for the weekend.
“Our caravan has solar panels and batteries just in case the facilities that we visit do not have power, which was good, but for some other families this was not the case.”
Power was fully restored to the grounds on Monday December 4.
