Enough is enough, hooning must stop

ROSEWOOD Police have warned that serious repercussions will result if anyone is caught hooning on the streets of Rosewood and the surrounding areas.

Cheryl Stone says she “has absolutely had enough, of waking up to the screaming and screeching noises that come from car tyres and engines that roar through the main street and the outer streets of Rosewood”.

“Almost every night, I am on edge waiting for the next incident that may occur on our streets, and my children are also scared when they hear the loud noises which makes me even more upset,” she said.

“I have been living in Rosewood for six years, and during this time there has always been a problem when it comes to hoons taking advantage of our roads, recently though I would say this problem is getting worse.

“I am just waiting for the night when the loud noises of hoons flying through our streets, results in a huge bang, which would be the result of a car ending up in a pole of even worse a house.”

Constable Scott Muscat from the Rosewood Police Station said police have noticed a large amount of skid marks on both the urban streets and in the rural areas.

“Police have received multiple reports and also CCTV footage of these activities occurring and if you are found to be the offender in instances relating to a hooning activity, police are able to seize the vehicle for 90 days,” he warned.

“Impound fees will also apply, you will be charged and you will be required to attend court as a result.

“Your safety, as well as the safety of other members of the public is paramount and hooning will not be tolerated around the Rosewood area.”
