Rosewood Lions Citizen of the Year nominee Sue Skelton

ROSEWOOD Uniting Church Goodwill Opportunity Shop volunteer Sue Skelton has been nominated for the 2024 Rosewood Lions Citizen of the Year Award for her commitment to serving the community.

Nominated by members of the Opportunity Shop, Sue moved to Rosewood eight years ago, with a desire to be part of the community.

Through talking to local families, Sue discovered volunteer work at the Uniting Church Goodwill Shop, where she offered to assist with cutting up clothes and materials to make reusable rags.

Sue then offered to take clothes home, to wash and iron them, so that once hung at the shop the clothing would be more desirable to the customers.

Sue also started to repair good quality donations that required mending, and she realised that sorting the donations was a huge job, though it was one that she wanted to be a part of.

Described by volunteers of the Goodwill Shop as a hard worker who is extremely reliable, Sue starts her service at 6am, up to three times a week assisting in many ways to ensure the shop is running successfully.

Sue enjoys gardening and thrives in propagating plants for sale in the shop, while helping families within the community, always smiling and bringing a positive atmosphere to her surrounds.
