Jenny Stubbs nominated for Ipswich City Cultural award

ROSEWOOD resident Jenny Stubbs is among 21 finalists who have been nominated for the 2024 Ipswich City Council’s Australia Day Awards.

The nominees have been recognised across six categories, Sport and Recreation, Cultural, Young Citizen of the Year, Senior Citizen of the Year, Community Group of the Year and Citizen of the Year.

Jenny Stubbs was nominated as a finalist in the Cultural Award section for her role as director of the StoryArts Festival in Ipswich since its inception in 1995.

Throughout this time Jenny has led the development of children’s literature in Ipswich through the festival’s national attraction while supporting local authors and illustrators.

Prior to her nomination the Children’s Book Council of Australia announced Jenny as the recipient of the prestigious 2023 Nan Chauncy Award, which honours individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the field of Australian children’s literature.

In her role as a teacher librarian for more than 40 years she has held many additional roles, which include director and coordinator.

Jenny is also a member of many different organisations and charities such as the CBCA Queensland branch, the Ipswich District Teacher Librarian Network, Queensland Books Links, the Australian School Library Association and the Queensland School Library Association.

The winners in each category will be announced at the 2024 Ipswich Australia Day Awards Ceremony this week.
