BUSINESS owner and President of the Ipswich Show Society Darren Zanow has been announced as the LNP’s candidate for Ipswich West in the forthcoming by-election.
With Jim Madden’s decision to contest the Ipswich City Council elections, the State Government announced that a by-election would be held for the electorate on the same day as the council elections, March 16.
Labor endorsed their candidate for Ipswich West days later announcing former Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk’s caucus liaison Rosewood resident Wendy Bourne to run for the seat.
Leader of the Opposition David Crisafulli was in Ipswich last week to announce Mr Zanow as their candidate.
Mr Zanow said he believed the State Government had taken Ipswich for granted and the by-election was a rare chance to send Labor a message.
“I speak with local residents and businesses in Ipswich every day through my work and volunteer roles, and I see first-hand the way our community has been neglected under this tired State Labor Government,” Mr Zanow said.
“David Crisafulli and the LNP are focused on the issues that matter most to Queenslanders and I am proud to join the team, to listen to the Ipswich community, and give them the voice they deserve.”
