Sea of blue shirts take over town

DEPUTY Leader of the Opposition Jarrod Bleijie was in Rosewood on Saturday with the LNP’s candidate for Ipswich West Darren Zanow.

The LNP has stepped up its campaign for the Ipswich West by-election with the message that the State Government has taken Ipswich for granted and the by-election was a rare chance to send Labor a message.

The visit to Rosewood was part of a campaign on Saturday to saturate the western corridor with supporters in blue shirts throughout the two seats where a by-election will be held on March 16, Ipswich West and Inala.

Mr Bleijie said Saturday marked 35 days until the upcoming by-elections and the LNP would be out in force knocking on doors and listening to the communities.

“The Labor party has taken these incredible communities for granted for too long,” Mr Bleijie said.

“We’re determined to show the people of Ipswich West and Inala there is a better way and we’ve chosen local community champions as our candidates to do it.”

Mr Zanow said the message from the community was loud and clear.

“On Saturday we were on the ground listening to locals and hearing about their priorities because I’m determined to give them a voice in the Queensland Parliament.”

With Jim Madden’s decision to contest the Ipswich City Council elections, the State Government announced a by-election to be held for the electorate on the same day as the council elections March 16.

Labor has endorsed former Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk’s caucus liaison, Rosewood resident Wendy Bourne as their candidate for Ipswich West.
