Marburg Show: A big day out for all the family

FRIDAY (today): The gates are open and the Dog Show is underway and judging in the horticulture, fine arts, farm produce, fruit and veg, Lego and cookery is happening.

The Marburg State School volunteers are there with their hamburger stall and the Show canteen is open.

Entry is free today (Friday) so if you’re keen to hear what the judges have to say or to view the plethora of pavilion entries then ‘Come on Down’!”.

SATURDAY: Huge! Huge is the best way to describe the entertainments and attractions on the Marburg Show main day and the gates open at 9.00am for 12 hours of activity.

Saturday is the day for the livestock judging from caged birds, to poultry, to goats, to horses, to cattle and more – all big sections. Huge!

The pavilions are open and offer showgoers a chance to view the entries and displays in the variety of sections and maybe even tempt you to consider entering next year.

There are market stalls, food stalls, rides and what would a Show be without showbags?

The entertainment line-up means you should prepare for a big day out.

The penultimate attraction are the fireworks at 7.00pm.

Competing in the ‘biggest attraction’ stakes throughout the day are the Friesian Performance Troupe, a display of Andalusians, the Light Horse Re-enactment Troop and bringing in the rev of engines are the lawnmower racers.

There’s a ute show and shine and the Ulysses Motorbikes, the Hot Rods the historical motorbike display will also be on the grounds.

Setting a quieter pace will be Mr Happy Cabaret and then to make the pulse quicken Walter Whip and the Flames performance team will be worth watching.

Face painting, the land train, a wildlife show, llamas, dairy goat milking, whip cracking workshops and rousing tunes from the Amberley Pipe Band.

Find a seat or a posie along the fence to watch the opening and the Grand Parade in the early afternoon.

“We invite everyone to come and enjoy our local Show,” says Show President Ann-Maree Frohloff.

“There really is so much to see and do!”

• To help make the day stress free, there’s lots of parking available in Black Snake Creek Reserve (availability is subject to the weather).
