$177M to two Warrego Highway upgrades

THE Federal government has allocated an extra $177 million to two new projects on the Warrego Highway.

The funding will go towards upgrading the Mt Crosby Road Interchange and the Bremer River Bridge at Karalee (west bound).

More than $134.5 million has been committed to deliver upgrades at the Mt Crosby Road Interchange, including building a new two-lane bridge, the extension of the existing ramps and delivery of new shared paths.

The Queensland Government has also committed $137.5 million to the project with major construction expected to start in mid-2025 and early works kicking off in mid-2024.

Both levels of government have also committed $42.5 million each to strengthen the west bound Bremer River Bridge on the Warrego Highway at Karalee.

This project will improve the safety and lifespan of the bridge and allow current operational traffic restrictions to be lifted. Construction is expected to start in late 2024 and be completed by late 2026.

In announcing the upgrades during his visit to the area last week Senator for Queensland, Anthony Chisholm said the Australian Government was delivering much-needed investment in the Warrego Highway, to the community to jobs, study and services. “Upgrading the Warrego Highway is a top priority of our government, and this extra $177 million is a prime example of our commitment to improving the overall safety of the Warrego Highway, providing locals and visitors to the regions with a safer and more pleasant journey.”

Member for Blair, Shayne Neumann said that projects like the Mount Crosby Road Interchange upgrade and Bremer River Bridge strengthening was great news for commuters and other motorists in my electorate of Blair.

“This is one of the fastest growing regions in Australia, so it’s important that we continue to invest in key road infrastructure like this to improve congestion and safety.”
