Festival’s Winter Tour to play in Marburg

THE Festival of Small Halls is coming to Marburg in July.

The Festival is run by the team from the Woodford Folk Festival, known as Woodfordia.

And they announced last week that their Winter Tour to small halls around the country, would include the ‘small hall’ at Marburg – the only Ipswich area to be included.

Headlining the Winter Tour are award winning Canadian duo, Quote the Raven and folk singer, Hailey Calvert from Australia.

“The Festival of Small Halls celebrates Australian towns in all their diverse glory, supported by Woodfordian dedication to community, excellence in music and bringing people together,” said Woodfordia’s Izzy Bartlet.

“The team works with individual communities across the tour, to create a unique evening at each show and light up cherished local halls across the country.

“We love that these tours are so important to everyone involved, bringing much joy to each community, audience member, patron, volunteer and artist involved.”

The two acts featured in the Winter Tour are exciting choices.

Quote the Raven’s, Jordan Coaker and Kirsten Rodden-Clarke, have been performing together for more than a decade.

The duo were described at the Port Fairy Folk Festival as charming audiences with haunting harmony and deadpan humour.

The pair marry Americana Folk Music with East Coast banter for a show that takes listeners on a journey into the lives of a small-town touring band.

They have toured North America, Trinidad, Germany and showcased at the Americanafest in Nashville.

Hailey Calvert’s has a warm blues voice and combined with impressive guitar skills and relatable stage presence, as well as achingly honest song writing that makes each audience member feel like they are the only people in the room to hear her stories.

Two EP’s, one album and countless charismatic live shows into her career, Hailey Calvert is an independent performer showing no signs of slowing down.

Hailey’s music has taken her from tours in Australia supporting Stu Larsen, to performing all over Ireland, London and New York.
