Welcome Hub launched to help new Rosewood residents

THE Rosewood Welcome Hub launched last week in a space donated by Bendigo Bank.

“The Welcome Hub is an extension to the community centre and a nice, safe space for people to drop in and see what services are available throughout Rosewood,” Rosewood Support Centre general manger Donna Hanlon said.

“It has a volunteering board so if anyone is interested in volunteering, that’s where they find information to do that.

“All the clubs in town are giving us the information on what they need in that regard.

“We have a wall of historic photos donated by David Pahlke and the Rosewood History Group has donated some of its memorabilia for the display stand.”

There is also a section where visitors can do different jigsaws while getting to know the volunteers on duty.

Donna said the hub was established because the community centre was getting busier and there wasn’t a space where people could chat and touch base with volunteers.

“We were outgrowing the community centre, it’s small and no longer has the capacity to host everything we wanted it to,” she said.

“We wanted to make another space in the middle of town and Bendigo Bank kindly donated the space to us.

“We are now right in front of the only pedestrian crossing in Rosewood.

“We are hoping this will increase the awareness of what services are available here.”

The Welcome Hub is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 9am and 11am.
