A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services representative said that the fire season in Queensland often begins in July and runs through until October, with a chance of extending through to February.
“These times can vary each year depending on the condition of the local bushland,” the representative said.
“With long term climate conditions, short term weather events and also the impact of climate change bush fires can occur at any time.
“Climate change is creating extended fire seasons, with higher temperatures and more frequent hot days.
“We are encouraging landowners to be prepared for the bush fire season, by maintaining their properties and being cautious.”
