ROSEWOOD’s leaning tree has a new cradle.
More support has been placed under the bottle tree in the Cobb and Co Park by Ipswich City Council workers.
A cradle support was put in place under the tree about 18 months ago and it has now been replaced with a new, larger one in anticipation of its future growth and weight needing the added support.
Deputy Mayor Russell Milligan said the new cradle is twice the size and will accommodate future girth expansion.
“The lean of the tree has been gradual over the last couple of years with the current lean stabilised at approximately 20 degrees,” he said.
“This 70-year-old tree is extensively monitored every six months, with council arborists checking on it regularly.”
