A YOUNG girl is fighting for life after she and her mother were stabbed at their home in Rosewood.
Emergency services were called to the home at about 10.30pm last Thursday night where they found the girl, 11, and woman, 39, suffering stab wounds to their abdomens.
A 16-year-old boy has been charged with two counts of attempted murder.
The woman, a mother of three, remains in Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra Hospital, while the 11-year-old girl is now in the Queensland Children’s Hospital.
It is understood the woman and her daughter underwent surgery last Friday morning.
By midweek, the mother was in a stable condition, while the 11-year-old remained in a critical condition.
Another child, who also lives at the home, is being cared for by relatives.
Detective Inspector David Briese said a potential weapon was located at the scene. Detectives from the Child Protection Investigation Unit were leading the investigation, he confirmed.
The matter was mentioned at Ipswich Children’s Court on Friday.
