THE Marburg school oval was bright with all the colours of the rainbow for the school’s Colour Explosion Run and Under 8s Day.
Chaplain Krystal Colburn organised the Colour Run.
She said it was a fun filled way to celebrate Chappy Week where all the students, staff and families had the chance to join in.
“The community was amazing, and really got behind the cause,” she said.
A total of $3876 was raised.
“Chappy Week is all about celebrating, raising funds and creating awareness for the work of school chaplaincy, the program is only partially government funded so fundraisers help keep the program going in our school.
“I have been working at Marburg for almost nine years and I love being part of the community and supporting families.
“Over the years I have been involved in many programs that teach students social skills and I also work with the student leaders to develop leadership skills.
“Special events make a difference in the school and community, such as Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, fundraisers, board game days and making coffees for the staff.
She added that she was always happy to chat with anyone who needs a listening ear.
“Networking with local churches, businesses and community groups, and sourcing hampers and other necessities for families who are struggling is also part of the work that I am involved in.”
Along with the excitement of the Colour Run, an under 8s event was organised by school Prep and Year 2 teacher Keah Storta.
Keah said that Marburg wanted to hold the most exciting and enjoyable celebration of young children in their community.
“This was a wonderful success with small schools Haigslea and Ashwell and some play group families who also joined us for the day.
“The children explored the school grounds searching for treasure, they played with slime, had their faces painted and potted plants that they took home to their families.
“There was also an animal nursery and AFL Queensland came along to share some fun and interesting sporting tips.
“We could not have held this event without the help of our Year 4, 5 and 6 students who helped to run many of our activity stations.
“The whole school effort paid off as the younger students left with big smiles.”
