Lease awarded for Lions Club

COUNCIL has approved a trustee lease for the Lions Club of Rosewood over the Green Shed at the Rosewood Showground, replacing the leasehold arrangements and land management plan approved in 2019.

The new arrangement also aligns with the camping management plan for the site.

The showgrounds are owned by the State Government with Ipswich City Council appointed as trustees for the site.

Subject to Ministerial approval, the Council voted unanimously in favour of entering into a trustee lease at an annual rent of $1 if requested up to November 2027.

The Rosewood Lions occupy the shed to store equipment used in fundraising events, club equipment and associated administration.

The storage shed was constructed with the past consent of Council as trustee and the Lions Club of Rosewood seeking their own grant funding for the construction of the shed.

The Lions Club will be responsible for all maintenance of the shed, building repairs, cleaning and pest control.

In 2019, Council adopted the tenure over Council Property Policy incorporating a new framework for the schedule of fees for different types of agreements.

The expiry of the lease will align with the existing trustee lease to the Club for the management and operation of the Rosewood Showground Caravan and Camping Facility.

Deputy Mayor Russell Milligan said the changes were transitioning to the correct instrument and continuation of the land management plan for the showground.

“This shed has been used in conjunction with the lease for the camp ground which was established on the showgrounds so it follows through with what is fitting and right.”
