THE unloading bays at the Rosewood Recycling and Refuse Centre will be open again this month following extensive repair work to counter subsidence issues at the site.
The unloading bays had been closed for nine months due to the subsidence, construction issues and bad weather hampering the rebuild.
The tip is more than 30-years-old and is set to be replaced by the planned Western Resource and Recovery Centre.
Mayor Teresa Harding said council rebuilt the unloading bays of the existing centre in the meantime to bring the site back to full capacity.
Since the subsidence below the bays was discovered, temporary skip bins have been in place to make it possible for residents to continue to access recycling and waste services.
Council expects the centre to return to normal operations on February 7.
In addition to the bin bays there are new safety rails, bump stops and compacted road base for improved backing into bays and a more robust load out area for vehicles to access and replace and remove bins.
Cr Russell Milligan said the work had taken longer than first forecast as the weather and additional construction complications pushed it back several weeks.
Following independent engineering advice council decided to keep the original bays closed until repairs were completed as a safety precaution.
