Ippy Kart Club the nation’s best

The Ipswich Kart Club has kicked off 2026 with strong numbers and is once again putting on one of the best club championships in the country.

On the weekend, a massive 288 competitors entered round 2 of the Club Championships, a number many other clubs could only dream of.

Ipswich Kart Club Chief Steward and Development Officer Russell Innes said the club is in a great place.

“The second round was just a typical Ipswich Kart Club day where we have the biggest club level events in the country, and get it all done in one day,” Innes said.

“We had visitors from all over Queensland, New South Wales, and some Victorians here.

“We are the biggest club in Australia as far as membership, but we also have massive numbers of these club days, usually in the 250 to 300 ranks.

“Ipswich Kart Club is basically the epicentre of carting in Australia.

“A lot of people say that doing a club day at Ipswich is like going and doing a national round,” he said.

Their first round at the end of January had a huge 323 participants.

They put plenty of time into developing young racers and getting new people into the sport.

“We started a class called Cadet P Platers for little 7 to 12 year olds which starts them out racing,” Innes said.

“We had 19 people attend (the last Cadet P Plater event) which is a massive number,” he said.

The club is growing and is almost hitting 1000 members with more and more quality events just around the corner.
