Call for nominations for community superheroes

HOW do we acknowledge the people who have been working for a better community over the years?

There is a place where the names of community leaders and supporters are acknowledged.

“The Lions Club of Rosewood has continued the Rosewood Town and Country Volunteers Honour Board after it was established by our former Ipswich City Council Division 10 Councilor, David Pahlke,” said Club Treasurer, Bruce Richards.

The Honour Board hangs in the foyer of Drakes Rosewood.

“It displays the names of people who have dedicated their time, effort and personal networks to the betterment of Rosewood and surrounding communities,” Bruce said.

“The time has come again for our community to nominate a person who has worked tirelessly and selflessly in the betterment of our community.

“They may just be the person who is always there assisting the person who leads their organisation.

“They may be the person who is leading improvement and development of our community by identifying a need and following their belief in improving our community.

“This public acknowledgement is for the person or the people who have been community minded for a long period and have worked to make positive changes.”

If you would know of someone who deserves to have their name on the Honour Board applications can be obtained by emailing the secretary of the Lions Club of Rosewood via secretary.rosewoodlions@outlook.com.

To complete the application the writer will be requested to write a response explaining why the nominee is worthy of the nomination (750 word maximum).

The response could include why the person is an inspirational role model, award they may have received, their excellence in chosen areas or as a leader of community.

It could reflect on their work towards a bettering community without seeking public recognition, praise or monetary rewards.

“We look forward to expanding the names and acknowledging those who are making Rosewood and our surrounding community a better place to live,” Bruce said.
