STAFF at Cabanda Care in Rosewood were treated to a morning tea and presented with certificates as a thank you for ‘going above and beyond’ during the days of flooding and heavy rainfall as a result of the aftermath of ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
Director of Nursing Narinder Masuta organised a small ceremony with scrumptious food to show appreciation for the staff’s commitment to the care home’s residents.
“During times of flood, Cabanda becomes isolated and cuts off staff coming from Ipswich, Springfield and the surrounding areas,” she said.
“We struggle when that happens so when during the time of the cyclone, some of the staff agreed to stay here overnight.
“Many of them worked 12 hour shifts because they had a duty of care for our residents and wanted to make sure their needs were met.”
A member of staff who lives in a property behind Cabanda, joined her colleagues while off duty rather than sit the flooding out at home.
“I wanted to show my staff how much I appreciated them and organised the morning tea,” she said.
“I made certificates of appreciation and gave them gift vouchers.”
