Showtime in Rosewood begins today

IT’s showtime in Rosewood today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday) and it comes with a promise of “something for everyone to enjoy”.

The gates open early each day to a full Show program.

“We’ve organised two full days of entertainment and events,” says Show President Paddy Lenihan. “The Rosewood Show is a great family show and we aim to have ‘something for everyone to enjoy’.

“Today, there’s the big Dog Show in the main arena and we’re expecting around 400 entries.

“The two day Poultry Show opens with the judging, there’s the Young Judges and Young Paraders competitions, the Elizabeth Boughen Memorial Youth Challenge, the pavilions will be open, there’s the animal nursery and much, much more.”

Out on the grounds Sideshow Alley will be calling all comers.

“And we’re excited to announce that there will be showbags for sale for the first time since Covid,” says Paddy

The day’s offerings lead up to the first of the big show features – the Rosewood Bull Ride, which opens with the Kindled Spirits Fire Show and closes with entertainment from Route 33.

“Stop by the bar tonight and say hello to Mayor Teresa Harding who helps serve the drinks and turns up early on Saturday to help our committee wherever she’s needed!” Paddy reports.

Tomorrow (Saturday) there’s a non-stop line up of feature events and entertainments.

“Early on, there’s the Stud Beef judging and the Horse events start at 8.00am,” says Paddy, who’ll again be the Ringmaster for the day.

“One of our feature classes in the Horses is the Gordon McGeary Challenge.

“It’s open to any type of horse and anyone who wants to have a go – it’s been going for about 20 years now and is worth watching.

“This year, in addition to the McGeary family, the Waters Property Group are sponsoring the Challenge.”

MC John Norris will keep everyone up-to-date on the happenings around the grounds and will call everyone’s attention to the official opening at 1.30pm.

“This year, there’ll be plenty of seating as with the help of the Bendigo Community Bank and the Ipswich City Council, the committee has purchased three new mobile grandstands,” Paddy.

“And throughout the day there’ll be food vans and market stalls and when the Clive Claus Bar opens, call by and say hello to Dos Claus, who is always there on the main day helping serve.”

The night program won’t disappoint with features such as the Queensland premiere of the Ducks, Dogs and Dancing Show by the Rooftop Express, a Kindled Spirits Fire Show and some breathtaking stunts from the FMX Kaos team.

“On Sunday everyone can come in for free to watch some of the best compete in the Rosewood Show Campdraft,” says Paddy.

He wanted to make a “big shoutout” to the Show’s sponsors.

“I’d personally like to thank our gold sponsor the Bendigo Community Bank and every business and individual who offers sponsorship, without you the Show would not happen.

“And I want to thank our supporters and volunteers, who help make the Rosewood Show what it is today.”
