New Deputy Mayor and an array of apointments

THE Ipswich City Council’s Deputy Mayor Nicole Jonic spoke of working with all councillors when she was appointed into the role for a four year term.

Cr Jonic was voted into the role by Mayor Teresa Harding and all councillors except new councillor Pye Augustine, who voted against her appointment.

“As much as the appointment of deputy mayor is on individual merits, each member of this council brings a unique perspective and set of skills to the table,” Cr Jonic said.

“It is by harnessing the collective talents of our council that we truly make a difference in the community.

“I believe the role of deputy mayor is about the collective. Together we have the opportunity to collaborate, celebrate and find solutions to the challenges for the benefit of Ipswich. I am committed to this collective.”

Other appointments to boards and committees included:

• Deputy Mayor Nicole Jonic and Division 3 Cr Andrew Antoniolli were appointed to the Audit and Risk Management Committee.

• Division 2 Cr Paul Tully was re-appointed to be District Representative to the LGAQ Policy Executive.

• Division 3 Cr Andrew Antoniolli was appointed Chairperson, and Division 4 Cr David Cullen was appointed Deputy Chairperson, of the City of Ipswich Local Disaster Management Group.
