Pye Augustine firms as new councillor

PYE Augustine is likely to be the new councillor for Division 1.

With Sheila Ireland contesting the mayoralty, the second councillor position for Division 1 was open with only three candidates running for the role.

Councillor Jacob Madsen received the highest count with 30 percent of the vote.

With 77 percent of the vote counted Ms Augustine was more than 600 votes ahead of Simon Ingram with 26 percent of the vote to Mr Ingram’s 25 percent.

Ms Augustine ran a high profile campaign running early last year and was backed by Member for Ipswich Jennifer Howard and Ms Howard’s husband who donated $1,000 and assisted her campaign.
