THE ongoing wet weather may have hampered construction deadlines but the $9.7 million building program at Walloon State School meant that students were greeted this week with an array of new facilities.
Work on the project began in September last year on the project which will result in the construction of a two storey, airconditioned general learning centre with four classrooms, a lift and an undercroft, which will provide an all-weather playing area for the students.
A new modular building was completed in time for the 2024 school year. It features two classrooms. Other parts of the project which were also completed were a multipurpose court suitable for tennis, netball and basketball and a large machinery shed for ground staff.
School Principal Lisa Noonan said her staff and the students were “doing a great job” coping with the various construction sites on the school grounds.
