Fishing club ‘lands’ a festive celebration

EARLY this month, the Rosewood Amateur Fishing Club celebrated the end of the fishing year at the Rising Sun Hotel.

Rosewood Amateur Fishing Club Secretary Judy Litfin said the night was complete with a sumptuous seafood smorgasbord, roast pork with all the trimmings and delicious desserts.

“The exciting announcement of the 2023 competition winners also took place, with Daren and Donna Henderson scooping the prize pool this year,” she said.

“Daren won overall freshwater and saltwater champion and overall champion, and Donna claimed runner up freshwater and the overall runner up title for the year.

“Terry Sheppard was awarded runner up saltwater in the junior competition and Alisha Harris won the freshwater, saltwater and the overall junior competition.

“Holly Bazzo claimed runner up freshwater and runner up overall and the saltwater runner up title went to Copper Buhmann.”

Awards for the heaviest fish of each species were awarded to the following members:

• Senior section – Shane Browning with a silver perch, Ken Slater with a flathead and yellow belly, Daren Henderson with a jew, bream and bass, Terry Sheppard with a whiting, Judy Litfin with a snapper and Kel Larfield with vermin.

• Junior section – Alisha Harris with bass, silver perch and vermin, Holly Bazzo with a yellow belly, Alisha Harris with a flathead and bream and Holly Bazzo with a whiting.

“All club members are looking forward to 2024, when once again it will be War on the Water,” Judy said.
