ON NOVEMBER 5, the Rosewood Bowls Clubs travelled to the North Ipswich Bowls Club to compete against five other teams for the Currie Shield.
The Currie Shield is a special event that the Currie family started with family member Don Currie who hosted and sponsored the event on the day.
Participating in the game and competing for the shield against Rosewood were teams from Rathdowney, Gatton, Lowood, Rosewood, Ipswich and North Ipswich.
Each club had four individual teams that were made up of three players, who played in three games of 12 ends on the day.
After a full day on the green the Rosewood team who was made up of Rosewood Vice President Karen Kington, Sean Kedge and Debbie Grants took home the win, and the Currie shield.
Karen said she played in the skip position, and she was very proud of her team who all played exceptionally well on the day.
“I have been playing in this competition for over 10 years, which is known to be a very popular event that draws top players from different clubs to compete for the shield,” she said.
“It was an enjoyable day with friends, our Rosewood team and also all of the others bowlers who also played well on the green.
“Taking home, the news that Rosewood won was great and we thank the Currie family for the opportunity to play in such a fun and competitive game of bowls.”
