Rosewood reflects to remember the Fallen

AT THE 11th hour, on the 11th day of the 11th month annually, the local community gathers at the Rosewood Memorial Hall to commemorate the Fallen, at a service hosted by the Rosewood RSL Sub Branch.

Again, this year, people were welcomed to the service by Rosewood RSL Sub Branch President Bernie Mason who expressed his gratitude to the invited guests, service personnel, the school communities, community groups and families who joined the sub branch in front of the Soldier Memorial.

“Remembrance Day is a significant day on the sub branches calendar, and a special day for the community to come together to pay their respects,” he said.

The service included prayer led by Reverand Louise Orpe, the Names of the Fallen were read by Rosewood State High School leaders, In Flanders Fields was read by RSL member Dianna Mulford and the Last Post was played by Michael McKay.

Everyone joined in songs and hymns, before a one minute of silence to reflect on the Australian service personnel who had died in war and conflicts and to commemorate those who are currently serving their country.

Wreaths, bouquets and handmade memorabilia were placed on the memorial.

To conclude the service a light lunch was provided by the Sub Branch in the Memorial Hall, where photographs and memorabilia were on display
