IPSWICH City Council are asking the community to report damaged or broken structures in the local parks.
The call comes in response to an issue raised by a Rosewood resident.
“The community are often the eyes and ears for council and the first to spot any issues in our parks, or with our roads and footpaths,” said Mayor Teresa Harding.
“A Rosewood resident kindly notified Member for Ipswich West Jim Madden, Division 4 Councillors and the Ipswich City Council about a damaged fence post rail at Johnson Park, Rosewood this month,” she said.
“In the meantime, another resident screwed the wooden post and rail together, while someone else put zip ties around the damaged spot.
“While we appreciate the repair job, it is always best to leave it to council to conduct more significant work to ensure community safety now and into the future.”
She said council was anticipating that the fence post rail might be more damaged than it first appeared and that it may require possible replacement.
“A customer service request has been lodged and council officers will investigate and, if necessary, repairs will take place at the earliest opportunity.”
