THE Rosewood Amateur Fishing Club headed down to Jacobs Well, at Jumpinpin for the second saltwater competition of the year.
Club Secretary Judy Litfin said the trip coincided with the, King of the Pin, a popular yearly weekend event, run by the Gem Hotel Social Fishing Club.
“In spite of the crowded conditions most Rosewood club members ended up with a few fish in the esky,” she said.
“Darren Henderson claimed first place with a catch of 12 bream, gaining 72.8 points, second place went to Donna Henderson who landed nine bream and one whiting for 52.3 points.
“Kel Larfield’s catch of six bream put him in third place earning 45.7 points and in the junior competition Alisha Harris was the only place getter, with a catch of three bream and one flathead, scoring 28.85 points.”
Overall, 53 bream, three whiting and six flathead were weighed in.
“As the weather becomes colder the bream catches should increase, and the chopper tailor start running up the estuaries,” Judy said.
“So, we are aiming for a ripper competition in July.”
