Rosewood Town Crier board now on display

THE Rosewood Town Crier board is on display for the community.

The history of the board originated from the time when Ken Savage from Rosewood dressed elaborately, to walk the main street of Rosewood, sharing the town’s local news and notices.

Ken, who was the President of the Rosewood Chamber of Commerce, was approached by the then local Councillor and fellow member of the Chamber, David Pahlke, who discussed with him the idea of creating a town board.

The idea came to life, when Pat Cole, also from Rosewood, was approached to build the board.

The board was placed on the National Bank building for many years until the bank’s closure on November 3, 2022 and a decision on the future of the board had to be made.

Ken said that it was very important to keep the history of the board alive, and there had to be some renovations to the board, and also a permanent place to keep it which was easily accessible to the community.

“Pat, David and I approached the business owner who took over residence of the old National Bank building once the back closed, to see if the board could still be located on the front wall,” he said.

“It was agreed by all that the board would stay on the front façade of the building, it would just be located at the opposite side to where it once was.

“It was also agreed that renovations would take place to keep it fresh and new by Rosewood Resident Trevor Halter.”

The board is now finished, ready for use, and back to its former glory..
