An invitation to the Crosses on the Hill Good Friday Service

ONCE again on Good Friday, residents from throughout the region are invited to join in a non-denominational Service at the site of the Crosses on the Hill.

Keeping with a tradition set more than 20 years ago, the three crosses on the hill at the corner of Eder Brothers Road and Rosewood Warrill View Road at Coleyville will be lit during Holy Week.

And with organisers securing Bible teacher and author, Pastor Peter Steicke as the preacher, there are now three Easter Services planned – the main one remains the Good Friday service on the site of the Crosses on the Hill at Coleyville, with another on Easter Saturday at the Baptist Church in Rosewood and the third on Easter Sunday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Minden.

“We’re looking forward to again welcoming a large crowd,” said Norm Kerle, who is a member of the committee organising the Service.

Norm and other volunteers will again erect signs to direct people to the rural site outside Ipswich, where a huge, open sided marquee will be filled with seats in anticipation of the size of the crowd which normally attend the Service.

“Following the Service, people will be offered the opportunity to share in a cuppa or cold drink with hot cross buns and doughnuts,” Norm said.

“And our rainy day alternative venue will be the School of Arts in Queen Street, Harrisville.”

Bus pick ups will be at Brassall Village, Cabanda Aged Care Home, Rosewood and Uniting Church, Rosewood.

He said the committee was excited that Pastor Peter Steicke had agreed to join them and preach at the Easter Services.

“Many will remember Peter from when he was with us ten years ago,” Norm said.

“At the Good Friday Service which starts at 9.30am, he will speak on the topic ‘Experiencing a Journey of Trust’.

“His topic at the 7pm Service on Easter Saturday in Rosewood will be ‘Living your Easter reality”. And we will be running a sausage sizzle and a cuppa outside the church from 6pm.”

The final Service on Easter Sunday will be at Minden at 9am and Pastor Steicke’s topic will be ‘An Easter upgrade’.

“Peter Steicke is an engaging Bible teacher and the author of five books,” Norm said.

“He was a church ‘planter’ and pastor for 25 years and is passionate about discipleship and seeing people grow to their full potential in Jesus.

“Peter now spends his time helping others know the power of God’s love for themselves, their families and their communities.

“He has travelled extensively in South East Asia, Africa and Australia sharing the wonder of a life lived in the Father’s love.”
