STANDING out on the track in bright pink silks with pony Too Good For You, Briana Davis tells the Moreton Border News about her excitement at being selected to compete in the race of her life, the 2022 Inter Dominion.
The Melbourne Cup of harness racing, will be held in Melbourne on December 10.
Briana will be competing in the Miniature Trots category against other competitors who will be bringing their competitive spirit to take home the coveted prize.
The event, which is described as an explosion of real horse power and entertainment around the track, is one of the most prestigious events held in Australasian harness racing.
Briana is from Caboolture and is a regular competitor on the Marburg track.
She was one of only two competitors selected from Queensland to compete in this race.
As she prepares to race against mini trot drivers from Australia and New Zealand, she said she is feeling a mixture of nerves and excitement.
“Harness racing is a family affair that originated with my grandparents, and then my mother Wanita and then from the age of six, I found my passion for the sport.
“Now at 16 years old, I have been selected to compete in this race which is a dream come true.
“I was selected due to my performances at race meets throughout the year.
“It is a really great opportunity and I am really grateful.”
Busy preparing for the race around studying and attending high school, Briana will be driving to the event with her family and staying at the venue for a week, with high hopes of taking home the win.
